Day 1 LUANG PRABANG
Meet upon arrival at Luang Prabang airport, transfer and check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Vat Visoun temple with its Singhalese-style stupa, That Makmo, and Vat Aham, one of the city’s major teaching shrines housing the puppets of the Lao ancestors. Then, enjoy the sunset along the Mekong River at Vat Siphouthabath.

Day 2 LUANG PRABANG / PAK OU / LUANG PRABANG (B)
After breakfast, visit Vat Xieng Thong, regarded as the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang with low sweeping roofs. Take a traditional riverboat for a 2-hour cruise up the Mekong River to Pak Ou, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, to visit the sacred caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, home to hundreds of Buddha statues. On the way, visit Ban Xang Hai village where sticky rice wine is distilled. Return to Luang Prabang and continue by road to Ban Xang Khong weaving village where traditional mulberry leaf paper is also produced.

Day 3 LUANG PRABANG (B)
After breakfast, visit the National Museum (formerly the Royal Palace) with its collection of personal artifacts of the Lao Royal Family. Continue to nearby Vat Mai Temple, which was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch until 1975, before climbing Phousi Hill for an outstanding view over the former Royal capital and the Mekong River.
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
Day 4 LUANG PRABANG/PAKSE/VAT PHOU/ CHAMPASSAK/DONG DEANG (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse (QV513 day 146 only LPQPKZ 1050 1240). On arrival, meeting with your local guide and visit of the morning market of Pakse, one of the biggest in Laos. Transfer to the pier and board a traditional riverboat for a 2-hour cruise down the Mekong River to the former Royal capital of Champassak. Take lunch at a local restaurant. En route, stop at Ban Houei Thomo village and walk to the nearby ruins of the Khmer temple of Oum Moung, which is hidden in a thick forest. Upon arrival in Champassak, continue by car to Vat Phou (8 km from the city), a pre-Angkorian temple dating from the 6-13th century, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. The boat will take you then to your lodge on Don Daeng, for check in.

Day 5 DON DAENG/KHONG ISLAND (B)
After breakfast, continue the cruise South (5h, depends of the water level). On the way, stop at Phou Asa ruins and arrive in Siphandone “The 4,000 Islands”. During the rainy season, the Mekong River reaches a width of 14 km and when the waters recede it leaves behind a myriad of islands and islets. Visit Det and Som Islands for a glimpse in to the lives of the fishermen.

Day 6 KHONG ISLAND/KHONE ISLAND/ KHONE PHAPENG (B)
After breakfast, board a long-tail riverboat for a cruise through the maze of waterways into the tropical paradise of the South of Laos. Discover Khone Island’s colonial heritage including an old French railway dating back to 1897 and built to bypass the powerful rapids that disrupt the navigation along the Mekong River. Have lunch at a local restaurant. See Li Phi’s waterfall and take a long tail boat to observe the Irrawaddy dolphins. Continue to Ban Nakasang and drive to the famous Khone Phapeng Waterfalls, the largest cascade on the Mekong River along its 4,350 km journey. Day 7 KHONE PHAPENG/STUNG TRENG (B)
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Dom Kralor to cross the Veunkham border for immigration procedure to Cambodia.
