Day 1   LUANG PRABANG / OUDOMXAY

Pick up at your hotel or at the airport of Luang Prabang.

In the afternoon, drive to Oudomxay (approx. 4 hours). On the way, visit the Thai Dam (Black Thai) village of Ban Thabu and the H’Mong village of Ban Songcha. 

Overnight in Oudomxay.

 

Day 2   OUDOMXAY             (B)

After breakfast, visit of Tad Lak Sip Et Casca at kilometer 11 in Muong Xay Capital. Stop at a hot spring and discover the temples of Muong La Capital then Phouxay montain.

Overnight in Oudomxay.

 

Day 3   OUDOMXAY/ MUANG SING                      (B)

After breakfast, early departure for Muang Sing (approximately 6 hours). The road follow the valley homed to Khmu and Thai Dam (BlackThai) that kept their ancestral way of living.

Day 4   MUANG SING / LUANG NAMTHA                        (B)

After breakfast, discover the small town of Muang Sing. Since the late 16th century, Muang Sing has been a Thai cultural nexus as well as an opium trade center until the end of the Vietnam War. Visit Vat Xieng Jai and Vat Nam Keo Luang temples which display Thai Lu architectural influence.

In the afternoon, drive to Luang Namtha (approximately 2 hours). Luang Namtha Province is home to the largest concentration of Lanten villages in Laos and counts over 4,000 Lanten in its population. The National Tourism Authority and UNESCO are presently conducting an eco–tourism development project in the Nam Ha National Biodiversity Conservation Area, located close to Luang Namtha.

On the way, visit various hill tribe villages: Ikho, H’Mong, Thai Dam (Black Thai), Thai Daeng (Red Thai), Thai Kalom. 

Check in at the hotel upon arrival in Luang Namtha.

Overnight in Luang Namtha.

 

Day 5   LUANG  NAM THA / HOUEI SAY              (B)

After breakfast, drive to Houei Say (approx. 4 hours). En route, stop at the hill tribe village of Ban Chan then at a Ikhor and a Lanten village to take pictures.

Day 6   HOUEI SAY / PAKBENG                 (B)

After breakfast, drive to Houei Say immigration checkpoint and transfer to the pier. Board a traditional riverboat for a cruise down the Mekong River to Pakbeng (approx. 7 hours depending on the water level). The Mekong River has kept much of its untamed character with impressive rapids and lush jungles along each bank. En route, stop and visit some hill tribe villages such as the H’Mong village of Ban Houeilampene and the Thai Lu village of Ban Kouaytoune. Arrive in Pakbeng, a rustic town located on a steep hillside and offering spectacular views of the Mekong River. Check-in at your hotel.

Overnight in Pakbeng.

 

Day 7   PAKBENG / PAK OU / LUANG PRABANG                        (B)

After breakfast, continue your cruise along the Mekong River towards the former Royal capital of Luang Prabang (approx. 6 hours depending on the water level). On the way, stop at Pak Ou, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, to visit the sacred caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, home to hundreds of Buddha statues. Continue to Ban Xang Hai village where sticky rice wine is distilled 

Arrive in Luang Prabang and transfer to your hotel.

 

Day 8   LUANGPRABANG / DEPARTURE  (B)

After breakfast, visit the National Museum (formerly the Royal Palace) with its collection of personal artifacts of the Lao Royal Family. Continue to nearby Vat Mai Temple, which was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch before 1975,visit Vat Xieng Thong, regarded as the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang with low sweeping roofs.Transfer to the airport for your flight departure.
